How to
Choose an Agency?
For the client's protection, always use an agency licensed by the
State of Texas.
Licensed Agencies:
* Are the only agencies that may provide “hands on care “,
(unlicensed agencies may only provide "custodial" or "companionship"
care and will be unable to help with any personal care needs).
* Must adhere to all Federal and State guidelines
* Accept responsibility for screening, training, education and
supervision of their employees
* Must withhold required taxes on all employees
* Conduct background and reference checks on all employees
* Provide quality professionals to oversee care.
Ask the following Questions
* How long has the agency been serving the community and what services
do they offer?
* Does the provider have written statements describing its services,
fees, client nghts, confidentiality, complaint procedures, hours
service, and emergency arrangements?
* What back-up systems are m place to ensure continuity of care?
* Is the agency a member of a state and/or national home care organization?
Association membership is an indication that the agency is continually
informed and actively involved in the home care
